Selv om Bob Geldof ikke er spesielt glad i mandager, håper vi gårsdagens arrangement i regi av ZERO 10 likevel var til nytte og glede for mannen som kan se seg selv i speilet og si «hei på deg, Sir».

Noe som igjen får Popklikk til tenke på det gromme intervjuet med Geldof i novemberutgaven av The Word der han ikke nødvendigvis er redd for gi uttrykk for hva han mener. At han dessuten er en utmerket banner blir selvfølgelig verdsatt høyt av Popklikk-redaksjonens medarbeidere.

Om Top Of The Pops, The Clash og The Boomtown Rats:

«I thought The Clash became The Clash with London Calling, and that’s fine, that’s only two albums. But I didn’t believe it until den. All that crap about not doing Top Of The Pops that was around back then – for fuck’s sake get a sense of proportion. If you want to change things, take the fucking platform. (…) Our thing, The Rats’ thing, was to get on TV and then fuck with it. Some people stand outside the tent pissing in, others stand inside pissing out. My thing was, get inside the tent and just piss. A lot. »

Om kritikken av enkelte av artistene som stilte opp på Live 8:

«I hate, I fucking hate that lazy, stupid criticism, «Oh, these guys are just doing it to sell records». Fuck off! These guys do not need to sell one more record. Madonna’s ten-minute slot must have cost her, personally, about eight million quid. She can’t get up with an acoustic guitar, it doesn’t work, so she had to fly the dancers and the whole lot in on her own expence. But you don’t hear a word about it. »
